I faced trials and problems.
I got broke. I lost some loved ones.
Even our nation can testify to it. Disasters have come. Celebrity scandals became a hit.
Great people have died.
We all felt it.
2009 is a year of learning. A practical exam. And it’s not easy. I didn’t review my notes.
But there are reasons to be happy because of these people. They have greatly influenced my 2009. As a tribute to them, let me explain why I chose them to become
“People of my year”
1.Hannah Maye De Loyola

I consider her as my number one in this list because she has greatly influenced my life this year. I got to know her from January and we’re still together ‘til the end. She taught me how to be tough, to be patient and to be blissful. I trust her so much, I tell everything to her. She knows my dreams and collapses. For this year, I pay tribute to the newest person in my life whom I will ceaselessly remember. Thank you for everything dear.
2.Marc Christopher Labastilla

He is probably one of the happiest persons I’ve seen on earth. He is my school buddy. Whenever I have problems, this guy will always play a hero to me. He makes me laugh my heart out. He gives me advices and he sees things very very differently. I’ve known this guy for 3 years now, and still never failed to be my comrade. We’re like kindergarten students who still share ‘baons’ which our Mamas prepared for us. There’s this cliché, “Friends come and go”, but you know what? Marc will not. Thanks pare!
3.Orange Mother Family

I started my year with this group. My people were asking why the name is. Well, just listen to Michael V.’s English version of “Pare Ko” and you will know why we came up with the name. They’re also my schoolmates. It’s quite swift because we just clicked right away. I would always remember them because, life has become easier whenever I’m with them. To Pebbles, Faith, Jovs, Jane, Edgar, Jane and Miguel. My family. Thank you for everything. I hope we could gather again soon.
4.Babes

They are Hannah’s friends. They are my new set of bloc in school, and considered as my first girl friends. They are the in high spirits 4th year Special Education clique. This is the first time where I really reached out and befriended each one of them. Not because of Hannah but because I found them really fascinating. I have experienced tons of learning from them and shared common interests as well. Honestly, with my age, I could say that they are the only group whom I could relate to at school. Thanks to Mara, Ica, Tyne, Iana, Apang, Chy, Rizza, Kate, Roxanne, Tina, Kinkin (and to your boyfriends as well) for accepting an English-Filipino major dude like me to be part of your group. Hehehehe..
5.COEDSO (College of Education Student Organization)

If I could sum up my year, I can say that COEDSO has really taught me to be a sturdy person. We are not the most organized group, we’re not the same compared with the previous officers but I’m glad to say that, we survived. True, internal conflicts came. Unsolved problems are still there, and me as a missionary for 2 years who learned leadership in God’s way tried to apply it to this group. And so far, it’s working. I love this group because in spite of personal differences, we’re still able to cope up and be one. (in some way.) 3 months to go and we’re done guys! Thanks Rhine, Ching, Ruben, Bing, Charlene, Sondrew, Lorelei, Erick, Nina and Ethel. You guys are the best!
6.My family.

I think, they will always influence me all throughout my life. My dad is a good motivator, my Mom is a nurturer, my brother and my sister are my inspiration. Even though, I don’t see them always, we don’t talk that much but, I love them with the deepest particle of my existence. And to them, thank you very much my family I love you.
7.Eraserheads

This band never fails to inspire me. As a music lover, they will forever be the best band for me. Whenever I’m down, or happy, I could always get my iPod and look for a song related to my feelings. Such a great great band! I watched their 2nd reunion this year and I got teary-eyed when Ely said “Ito na ang huling El Bimbo” while burning his old grand piano which symbolizes that Eraserheads is over. Anyway, I still have their music. Even though you don’t know me, I’m still thankful that you existed. To Ely, Marcus, Raimund and Buddy, sana magsama ulit kayo! Please.
8.Pajo Ward Single Adults

I really love my students. They are always willing to listen to me every Sunday. Even though I know that they can’t remember what I’ve taught, but I know the Spirit remains every time I dismiss them. I hope that we still learn from each other. And continue to be eternal friends. To Jing, Jade, Jess, Marco, Bobong, Morian, Shem, Moy, Ray, Mary, Feda, TJ, Michelle, Paul, Cleofe, Tantan, and for those who aren’t mentioned, salamat sa lahat.
9.Bob Ong

Of course, no one personally knows him until now but his books reveal about his identity. He is the reason why I want to be a teacher. I don’t wanna make a book reviews here but, I would like to thank Mr. Bob Ong for influencing my life this year. ABNKKBSNPLako?! has been my bible as a student, Bakit Baliktad Magbasa ng Libro ang mga Pilipino is my Filipino book, Ang Alamat ng Gubat is my Almanac, Paboritong Aklat ni Hudas is my Atlas, MacArthur is my Values book, Stainless Longganisa is my linguistics module, and Kapitan Sino is my crossword puzzle. Salamat Bob Ong. Tinuturuan mo ako kung paano maging bobo.
There are a lot of good things that will happen next year. I can feel it.
To all the people I’ve mentioned, I hope you will still be a part of my next year.
There will be no me without you guys.
Again and again, I can now hear the Super Lolo from afar!
Happy 2010!
